The University of Missouri-St. Louis is a public metropolitan research university located in Missouri’s most populous and economically important region. UMSL is the largest university in the St. Louis area, and the third largest in Missouri, conferring over 3,000 degrees in 2010. UMSL offers 54 bachelor’s degree programs, 37 master’s degree programs, 15 doctoral degree programs, 24 graduate certificate programs, two education specialist programs, and the only professional optometry degree in Missouri. Classes are taught by outstanding faculty, and many programs are highly ranked nationally.
More than 70 structures account for more than 3.5 million square feet of building space. Among those structures is the Blanche M Touhill Performing Arts Center. Designed by world-renowned architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the center opened in 2003 and features two performance halls.UMSL offers traditional residence halls, and apartment living. Nearly 1,000 students reside in on-campus housing.
Campus is right near 70 and 170 in north St. Louis County, putting downtown St. Louis, the Saint Louis Galleria, and the Delmar Loop, all within a 15-minute drive. The 9.5-mile North County Bikeway connects UMSL with charming Ferguson, Mo., and the North County Recreation Complex

The University of Missouri offers all regular full-time employees an option of two medical plans through Coventry Healthcare. Preventative services are covered at 100% for in-network providers. Medical insurance is effective on the first day of employment.
The University of Missouri provides dental benefits through Delta Dental. Our plan covers 100% of reasonable and customary fees for preventative services and 80% of basic services beginning on the first day of employment.
The University of Missouri offers all regular full-time employees vision insurance through Vision Service Plan. Our plan covers eye exams after a copay of $10 and frames up to $140 after a copay of $25. Vision insurance is effective on the first day of employment.
All regular full-time employees receive a life insurance policy equal to their annual salary free of charge. Supplemental insurance may be purchased. Dependent plans are available for spouse and children.
Paid Time Off
All regular full-time staff accrue paid time off in the form of sick time, vacation time and personal days. Accruals for sick time and vacation time are based on status and years of service. Four personal days are given to staff each year on their anniversary date.
The University of Missouri designates eight days per year as official University holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, and Christmas Day.
University employees can check out books from any of the libraries on campus free of charge. Our libraries use Merlin/Mobiusto request books that are not availablein our library.
University employees receive discounted tickets for University athletic events and performances on campus.
University employees may use the Mark Twain facility free of charge. The newly renovated fitness center features updated equipment and an indoor track.
All employees in addition to a variety of voluntary supplemental retirement plans including 403b, 457b, and 401a plans.

University Health, Wellness and Counseling Services provides services to students, faculty and staff from a holistic perspective with consideration given to the six dimensions of wellness.
Employees at the University of Missouri-St. Louis have access to a wide array of training opportunities including more than 3,000 online courses and various classroom training sessions on a variety of topics for both managers and individual contributors including our Management Foundations Institute.
University employees are eligible for a wide array of employee discounts from restaurant and retail to insurance and travel via our online affinity provider, PerkSpot. Employees also receive discounts at the College of Optometry's Center for Eye Care. Employee parking is available at no charge and discounts are available for Metrolink.
