This is a full-time, exempt position. Job Summary
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible fordesigning and implementing a strength and conditioning program for athletes and athletic programs. Under the direction of the Dean of Athletics and Co-Curriculars, they implement and sustain a safe, educational and effective program to improve performance and reduce injury in all athletes and sports.
The coach plays a crucial role in cultivating an athlete-driven community and training environment marked by resilience, respect, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging. Within this context, adolescents are empowered with agency, supported within a structured framework, and guided through mentorship to thrive and develop.
Thecoach is responsible for collaborating with coaches to develop training plans, to supervise training sessions, to maintain and establish procedures for the safe and operational use of the weight room and training spaces.
Relationships
Works closely with students, athletic program directors, coaches and Gould health staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strength and Conditioning
Maintains playbook of sport specific strength and conditioning workouts, exercises, exercise sequences, sets, repetitions and recovery periods for teams and individual athletes
Appropriately prescribes and supervises exercises, strengths and conditioning programs for assigned teams and athletes
Demonstrates proper technique of exercises, and appropriately modifies and/or corrects technique as needed
Evaluates appropriate correlation of fitness components necessary to meet optimal individual performance levels
Contributes to an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with a diverse community
Collaborates with Gould Health Services and the Athletic Trainer to assess and develop standards, protocols and best practices of health and safety
Management
Assists in maintaining a presence, safety and order in Farnsworth Fieldhouse strength and conditioning facilities
Responsible for organization, inventory, and purchase of all weight room supplies
Responsible for management of the weight room hours including organization, inventory, and purchase of supplies
Works through athlete, coach or parent concerns or issues as they arise
Assists in monitoring equality of opportunity in athletics, for all athletes and teams
Community Life Role
Help supervise students one night a week in an academic or residential space
Participate in a weekend duty team
Engage in community activities
Communicate and seek to reduce scheduling conflicts

Attendance and participation in team and community meetings, special events, school functions, and Four Point program

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience: emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, NSCA / CSCS certification
CPR, First Aid and Safe Sport Certified (or willingness to be trained)
Basic software literacy in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite
Valid passport and US driver’s license
Pass a criminal and sexual offender background check
Obtain CHRC clear status from the Maine Department of Education
Physical and Environmental Conditions
