Advertisement: The Academic Advising department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Academic Advisor position.
The Academic Advisor provides holistic advising through guiding students' academic planning and providing ongoing support, fostering a welcoming and empowering environment that recognizes students' experiences, strengths, and academic and career goals.
We seek creative, adaptable staff who enjoy working in a university climate that promotes cultural diversity, multicultural understanding, and cultural fluency, consistent with the University's mission and values.
Academic Planning and Course Registration Assistance
You will: assist students with degree requirements, major requirements, and scheduling of classes. Document meeting outcomes and referrals in Student Success, DegreeEval, and other systems as required. Collaborate with the Manager of Academic Advising Operations and the Admissions Office to schedule, prepare for, and facilitate new student registration events. Ensure students are informed of the array of academic processes (i.e., add/drop, withdrawals, academic appeals) by sharing policies and procedures. Communicate outcomes of student interactions proactively and consistently with faculty mentors and other involved staff or faculty.
Student Success and Retention Outreach
You will: counsel students experiencing academic difficulty and make referrals to the appropriate support offices, documenting these interactions in the University's retention software. Provide proactive assistance to students on academic warning, probation, and suspension. Conduct outreach to unregistered and stopped out students, in collaboration with other offices on campus. Communicate outcomes of student interactions consistently and proactively with faculty mentors and other involved staff or faculty. Special Projects
Academic Advisors are assigned a special project based on the particular student population they serve, the needs of the University, and the advisor's skillset and interests.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years experience advising students in postsecondary envioronment.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in academic advising, education, counseling, or related field.
Compensation: Annual wage is $42,500-$47,500 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.
