The Admissions Counselor is the welcoming face of SEA for prospective students and their families. A vital member of our Enrollment Team, this person guides students through the journey from first inquiry to enrollment across our undergraduate, gap year, and high school programs, managing communications, application materials, and the administrative pieces that keep applications running smoothly. Close collaboration with the Advancement Team ensures every student's path to SEA is clear, supported, and exciting.
Job Duties
Build relationships with prospective students and their families, guiding them personally through every stage of the journey — inquiry, application, and enrollment
Treat every inquiry as an opportunity to engage, responding promptly and thoughtfully across all channels to ensure prospective students and families always feel supported.
Partner with students to navigate their options, matching their goals and interests to the SEA program where they'll thrive.
Keep every student's file complete and accurate, while making sure print materials get to the students, faculty, and contacts who need them, because the details behind the scenes are what make the experience seamless on the front end.
Track and fulfill individual mailing requests for print materials to students, faculty, and other contacts.
Host welcoming conversations and webinars with prospective students, helping them imagine themselves as part of the SEA community.
Partner with the Development Office to weave alumni into the admissions journey, creating connections that inspire prospective students and remind alumni why SEA changed their lives.
Be an active, valued voice in the application review process, bringing the perspective only you have from your relationships with prospective students to help guide fair and consistent enrollment decisions
Collaborate across the Advancement Teams to find fresh, imaginative ways to bring SEA's mission and values to life for prospective students, because the right message at the right moment can change someone's course entirely.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
The ideal candidate is someone who sees admissions, at the undergraduate or secondary level, as a career, not just a steppingstone
A natural communicator who connects easily with students, families, colleagues, and everyone in between.
You believe in SEA’s mission and you're excited about contributing to it.
You're comfortable and confident in any room, be it a college fair, a dean's office, or a faculty meeting.
Excellent organizational skills.
You can work independently, and as part of a team.
Comfort with data systems and a willingness to learn new CRM tools.
You believe, like we do, that the ocean is for everyone, and you're excited to help us make that real.
Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to travel occasionally by air and/or ground to represent SEA
About SEA: Sea Education Association (SEA) is a non-profit educational institution and an internationally recognized leader in undergraduate ocean education. Since 1971, SEA has educated undergraduate, high school and gap year students about the world’s oceans through its Boston University accredited study abroad program, SEA Semester® and other programs. SEA is located on Cape Cod in the oceanographic research community of Woods Hole (Falmouth) and owns and operates two sailing research vessels: the SSV Corwith Cramer in the Atlantic Ocean and the SSV Robert C. Seamans in the Pacific. SEA is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages applications from people of color, persons with disabilities, women, and LGBTQ+ candidates. SEA is committed to the development of a multicultural environment. We value input of multiple viewpoints and perspectives across the organization; our goal is to create an academic and working community that is rich with cultural, social and intellectual diversity.
