Staff Counselors employed by the Center for Counseling and Student Development provide therapeutic and developmental services to enrolled students at East Carolina University. Staff Counselors report to either the Director or Assistant Director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development.
Position Duties: Counseling individuals and groups regarding personal, social, career and academic development. Provide crisis intervention services including consultation, evaluation, counseling, referral, and follow-up. These services include rotating coverage of daytime emergency crisis services and after-hours on call for evenings, weekends and holidays. Plan, conduct and evaluate outreach programs and services designed to facilitate student development and work cooperatively with university colleagues in developing and implementing quality programs. Participate in ongoing evaluative procedures of Center programs and services. Participate in ongoing professional development through in-service education programs conducted in the center, on campus, and/or professional organizations. Provide supervision to graduate level trainees and/or, when appropriate, to staff counselors for licensure in their relevant discipline Other duties as assigned

The purpose of the Center for Counseling & Student Development is to assist students in making the most of their opportunities for academic and personal development while attending the university. The Center offers personal counseling and psychiatric services to enrolled students. In addition to individual therapy, group therapy, workshops, crisis intervention, case management and consultative services are also available. All enrolled students are able to access the services provided by the center without charge beyond what has been paid in tuition and fees.
