Job Description Summary
The Pre-Law Advisor supports Miami University pre-law students in career exploration and preparation for law school applications. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, on-campus administrative staff position on an eleven-month contract (August to June), with occasional evening or weekend activities.
Job Description
Duties include:
Informing and advising students about legal careers and preparation for law school applications.
Assisting in creating or presenting educational materials and sessions on pre-law topics.
Enthusiastically promoting the Pre-Law Center and Miami University to prospective students.
Planning, organizing, and executing large events such as law fairs and guest lectures.
Supporting the Director in programming and events for Alumni Advisory Board and alumni engagement.
Assisting in teaching career exploration classes.
Participating in training for LSAC.org and law school-specific advising, as well as ongoing professional development.
Analyzing student data to adjust programming and admissions outcomes, prepare initial reports for university and alumni constituencies.
Providing support and resources to the director and other university constituencies.
Other duties as assigned by the director.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree, earned by start date.
Consideration will be given given to candidates with:
Master’s in academic advising, higher education administration, college student personnel, psychological counseling, student affairs, or related fields;
Pre-law or pre-professional advising experience in a college setting;
Experience working with prospective students in a college setting;
Work experience in a university or college setting;
Prior experience (more than 3 years) of career counseling or advising;
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous priorities;
Ability to use and learn new technology and adapt to changing technology quickly;
Proficiency with MS Office and virtual meeting tools;
Experience with tools such as: Banner, Student Success Collaborative (Navigate 360), WorkDay, LMS (Canvas).
