Woodberry Forest School is accepting applications for an assistant director of admission. The assistant director of admission will assume a critical role within the eight-member team and will work closely with the assistant headmaster and director of admission and tuition assistance, and director of internal programs on the development and implementation of the school’s strategic enrollment plan.
The assistant director of admission provides leadership and support in all aspects of the administration and function of the admission office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
management of prospective admission candidates and families
management of external constituents, including educational consultants, middle school placement counselors, and youth program leaders
engagement with and coordination of Woodberry’s internal constituents, including but not limited to Woodberry’s regional association networks
development and enactment of regional recruitment plan(s)
assigned travel during the recruitment and yield phases of the admission cycle, which includes both formal and informal presentations to internal and external constituencies
Summer program participation as assigned
The ideal candidate for this position must appreciate Woodberry Forest and its unique tradition and culture, be an excellent communicator, understand matters pertaining to student academic aptitude and character assessment, and be willing to travel seasonally within the United States and potentially abroad. Experience with young people, professional experience in admission or a related field, and a proven track record of building deep and abiding relationships is essential. The assistant director of admission will live on campus and be expected to participate fully in the life of the school. Most of all, the assistant director of admission must be a consummate team player and lifelong learner.
