This is a temporary one-year assignment with benefits with the possibility of extension.

The Academic Success Program (ASP) is a special admissions program for students who do not meet current admissions criteria but who show the potential to succeed in college. The program provides academic support through academic advising, tutoring, mentoring and academic monitoring, and counseling. Reporting to the Director of the Academic Success Program, the Student Success Coordinator supports students through a wide variety of direct and indirect services that contribute to student academic and personal success. The ASP Student Success Coordinator also manages the Peer Assistant program and assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of summer session and co-curricular activities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success and understanding student success philosophies; competence working with and among diverse student populations; the ability to communicate clearly; and the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff and faculty across different university constituencies.
Support students from initial matriculation through graduation
Conduct regular meetings with students in the ASP who are experiencing academic and/or other difficulties, specifically those who are on academic probation
Consult students by phone, email, video chat and Zoom
Contact students experiencing academic difficulties in their classes and discuss appropriate support
Work collaboratively with departments and units across the university to resolve student issues
Work collaboratively with ASP academic advisors, the Learning Assistance and Resource Center, Exploratory Studies, and the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities to ensure student success
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate the Peer Assistants
Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of program activities
Interact with academic departments and other university programs that contribute to the ASP Summer Session
Attend weekly meetings for planning and student monitoring purposes
Communicate with the ASP Director regarding student-related issues in a timely manner
Assist in data collection and analysis
Serve on university-wide committee(s) focused on student success
Maintain appropriate records and recommendations for students served
Submit reports on completed work
Perform other duties as assigned
Master's degree in counseling, education or related field
Three years of experience working in higher education
Two years of experience related to student success initiatives for undergraduate students
Demonstrated experience working with student record software & student alert systems
Experience working with predictive analytics tools, student record software, and Microsoft Suite
Experience coordinating events, activities, initiatives, and communications to support student engagement
Experience with student success platforms such as Navigate and/or Starfish
Experience collecting and analyzing data for program assessment and evaluation
Experience with FERPA, confidentiality of student records, and student record keeping policies
