St. Andrew's Episcopal School seeks a History teacher for a full-time, permanent position in our Upper School (9th -12th grade) Social and Religious Studies Department starting in August 2024. The role includes teaching four sections of departmental offerings and contributing to the development of the departmental curriculum. Beyond relevant credentials and experience, compelling candidates should work effectively with high school age students, demonstrate a creative and engaging instructional style, and value the whole student's development. At St. Andrew's, we believe in the importance of multi-contextual relationships as foundations for learning. In addition to teaching duties, faculty members are broadly involved with school life, coaching a sport or an equivalent contribution to the School, such as advising an extracurricular activity or sponsoring a student organization. Each faculty member also serves as an advisor to several students.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR FULL-TIME TEACHERS
Bachelor's degree or higher in History or a related field.
Successful experience teaching an engaging curriculum in a student-centered, relevant, and skills-based classroom.
The ability to teach all levels of high school history in addition to electives is an area of expertise.
Candidates with the ability and desire to teach economics, government, or political science are especially appealing.
A commitment to professional learning, collaboration, trying new approaches, demonstrating agility and empathy, and the ability to learn through failure.
Candidates with the ability/desire to contribute to the extracurricular life of the school are encouraged to apply. Opportunities include coaching football, volleyball, field hockey, golf, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, cross-country, baseball, track, or cheer and leading or assisting with student clubs and organizations such as debate, robotics, Model United Nations, service club, stewardship, debate, etc.
