Instruct a wide range of computer studies courses which may include, but not be limited to, Introduction to Programming with Python, Game Design with Python, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, App Development (Apple, Android or J2ME) and Introduction to Computer-aided Design
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, projects, assessments, rubrics, and handouts
Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records and documentation
Evaluates and grades students’ classwork assignments, projects and papers
Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction
Use effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning
Work with the Director of Technology and Media Services to mentor students enrolled in the STEAM Certificate program
Contribute to the school community activities (examples are clubs, volunteer for Shorecrest sponsored events, coaching)
Serve as an advisor to 10-12 students, guiding students in academic, extracurricular, social, and personal development and acting as a primary liaison to parents/guardians
Use scheduled free periods to advise and assist students
Collaborate with other faculty and staff
Maintain expertise in subject matter through professional development
Perform other duties as assigned by the Upper School Head
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent; a Master’s degree preferred
Prior experience teaching computer studies courses, preferably at the high school level
Experience with Java, Python, C, C++, C#, Scheme, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, HTML and other related programming and scripting languages
Experience with 3D Design and CAD software
Demonstrates interest, commitment and ability to work with students of varied academic levels and interests
Committed to inclusion and issues of social justice and equity
Willingness to collaborate with teachers across the Shorecrest campus
Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates leadership and facilitative skills
Able to use basic office equipment
