Regis College seeks a visionary leader with the demonstrated success, innovative mindset, and intellectual breadth to establish a new, entrepreneurial division for Professional Studies that will serve adult learners and degree completers. The successful candidate will be the Dean of Professional Studies, reporting to the Provost. This role is responsible for ensuring that the academic programs are built and provided in the spirit of Regis undergraduate and graduate programs: industry facing and inclusive of Regis mission-driven commitment to expand access to underserved populations and to contribute to the common good. The Dean will have broad authority over the full lifecycle of the programs, ranging from market analysis and demand to faculty hiring and assessment. They will be supported by a marketing, admissions, and student services infrastructure, and be expected to collaborate with the faculty and deans of Regis four schools of Nursing, Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, and Business and Communication.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop academic programs with the assistance of both internal and external instructional design vendors that incorporate best practices for teaching adult working professionals. Recruit subject matter experts as needed from outside of Regis existing faculty to develop the programs. Work with the Provosts staff to shepherd the new programs through the Divisions Curriculum Approval Process (DCAP).
- Working with academic leadership, shared governance committees, the Registrar, and student support offices; identify and amend existing structures and processes in order to accommodate the short format courses and rapid enrollment cycles
- Develop and disseminate relevant data regarding student learning outcomes and program completion for internal and external audiences and regional accreditors.
- Working with the Vice President of Graduate and Professional Student Affairs and Enrollment and the Vice President Communications and Marketing to support vendors; conduct a market analysis of workforce needs of the relevant sectors to determine which academic programs best serve their needs.
- Coordinate with the Presidents Office and Graduate Enrollment Offices to build on existing employer partnerships, identify institutions that could serve as new business to business, (B2B) partners and tailor academic programs to the needs of their workforces. Serve as the primary contact with partners in developing and providing program and work with relevant School Deans to identify appropriate academic offerings not offered through the Divisions.
- Work with Human Resources and other divisions to recruit and manage personnel, including faculty hired exclusively for the Division and success coordinators for self-paced courses, all in accordance with existing Regis hiring processes and procedures.
- Serve as a primary outward face of Regis within the employer community to promote the professional studies programs and to continually solicit feedback and input on evolving workforce needs.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- An earned terminal degree from an accredited institution is highly desired but not required.
- Evidence of leadership in a professional studies division in another institution or entity highly desired.
- A proven record of transformational leadership.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creative problem-solving, decision-making and evidence of having worked collaboratively with diverse constituency groups.
- Evidence of successful, progressive, and entrepreneurial leadership; and successful experience in strategic planning are required.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation/collaboration skills (with specific focus on interdisciplinary educational programs).
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to listen to and process issues in an unbiased manner and make sound recommendations.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with ability to uphold the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
- Experience with hiring, supervising, retaining, and mentoring diverse faculty.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Experience with learning and program outcomes assessment and regional accreditation standards highly desired
- Evidence of teaching adult learners desired, but not required
- Strong administrative and technical skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and/or MS 365, Zoom and/or MS Teams.
- Ability to conduct effective presentations and training sessions virtually and in-person.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc. May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
