Rider University seeks an individual for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Counseling Services Program in the Department of Graduate Education, Leadership, and Counseling to begin on September 1, 2024.
Rider University's Counseling Services Program is CACREP-accredited, with MA degrees in Counseling Services (school counseling focus) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Students enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree can also complete a concentration in Dance Movement Therapy.
Our students come from and intern in school districts and community agencies which serve diverse client populations. Applicants should be experienced with, and committed to, work with such a diverse population. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment supportive of the multicultural needs of Rider University and the surrounding community are required.
Successful candidates will be responsible for 18 teaching hours (six class sections) per academic year. The program consists of different formats of courses (i.e., in-person, online, and hybrid). Candidates who are able to teach a variety of course formats and attend and engage in in-person activities and responsibilities on campus are preferred. In addition to teaching, candidates will be involved in program development and assessment, including preparation for CACREP re- accreditation and advising and supervising graduate students in the counseling services program and serving on Department, College, and University committees. Candidates will be expected to carry out a research agenda and disseminate results in scholarly publications and at professional conferences.

OR
An official transcript documenting that you are enrolled in a doctoral degree program in Counselor Education
Demonstrated expertise in teaching a variety of counseling courses in School Counseling and in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Demonstrated experience incorporating different modalities into teaching, including in-person, online, and hybrid courses.
Demonstrated ability to infuse multicultural issues across the curriculum and have experience with evidence-based treatments, previous counseling practice, and supervision.
Demonstrated ability to develop a coherent research agenda and are capable of carrying out their research agenda and disseminating results through professional venues.
Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
PREFERRED
A degree from a CACREP (submit a transcript of completion or in progress in Counselor Education)
A related degree and have been employed as full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013
Candidates with previous experience or expertise in teaching and supervising fieldwork courses (e.g., practicum and internship).
Candidates with previous experience or expertise in teaching a wide range of counseling courses, including but not limited to Multicultural Counseling, Group, Theories, and Counseling Supervision.
Candidates with research agendas focusing on underserved and/or racially/ethnically diverse populations, particularly minority youth.
Candidates are eligible for licensure and/or certification as an LPC or school counselor in NJ.
