Position Description

The Infrastructure Engineer for the Administrative IT department within the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) is responsible for maintaining and protecting the internal computing infrastructure of DCE, working with other Infrastructure team members.

• This position will be a key member of the team responsible for managing the On-premise Windows and Linux servers, VMWare, firewalls, IPSec, and other security measures used to protect DCE's information and interconnect our various locations.
• The position will be a member of the Server and Network Administration team for DCE administrative systems, primarily Linux, and OS X including servers, computing appliances, and network devices such as routers and switches.
• The Engineer will work with other DCE stakeholders, both within Administrative IT and in other business units, to ensure smooth operations, meet compliance and availability goals and plan for further expansion for DCE administrative organizations and processes.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Knowledge of configuration and maintenance of IT infrastructure systems within an enterprise environment
• Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
• BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
• Three plus (3+) years of experience managing and configuring a small to medium enterprise production Windows & Linux environment.
• Two plus (2+) years of experience managing and configuring multiple firewall and/or UTM appliances, preferably Check Point devices, in a production environment.
• Four plus (4+) years of IT experience including at least one year of experience in network management.
• Two plus (2+) years of experience developing and maintaining systems administration tools with one of the following scripting languages: Perl, Python, or Ruby.
• One (1) or more years of experience managing systems and networks in an AWS environment. Experience with VMWare/HyperV is desired.
• Experience with Active Directory/LDAP is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

• Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. DCE is currently trialing hybrid workplace models with a minimum of 2 days per week on campus. DCE may adjust these as necessary or appropriate.
