Assist and support students through the annual process of applying for financial aid and settling their student account balances.
Provide high quality, customer service to respond to the individual needs of the students.
Comply with all federal, state and institutional regulations that govern the awarding and disbursing of financial aid.
Essential Job Functions:
Customer Service – Assist in the recruitment and retention of students by guiding individuals through the financial aid and billing processes and offering various payment options. Develop and deploy a communications plan to support these efforts that involves multiple channels – brochures, emails, live chats, phone calls, social media, texts, the website, webinars, etc. – and multiple audiences – students, parents, family members, guidance counselors etc. Involve other professionals on campus as needed in order to respond to student needs.
Student Packaging and Processing – Completes internal training to gain understanding of the financial aid cycle, federal regulations, and all aspects of internal and external compliance. Reviews students’ files prior to awarding to complete any federal or institutional verification, C-Flag requirements. Reviews documentation surrounding unusual circumstances by adjusting or revisions to costs, need or dependency status. Also, will identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect student information and resolve through communication.
Foster Relationships Across Campus – Engage with other offices – particularly Admissions, the Controller’s Office, Registrar, Residence Life and the Welch Center – in order to contribute to coordinated services across campus.
Presentations/Workshops – Represent Student Financial Services at various recruitment and retention events on and off campus. Develop and deliver presentations/workshops regarding financial aid (including sessions on completing the FAFSA), billing and payment options.
Education:

Professional Experience:
Required:
Two to three years of customer service experience within higher education or a comparable field.
Microsoft office experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Employment is dependent upon successful access to the National Student Loan Data System, which requires all federal student loans to be in good standing and not in default and a credit check to review that student loans are not in default.
Preferred:
Experience in a student financial services office that is responsible for both the awarding and disbursing of financial aid.
Working knowledge of Title IV regulations.

$18.16-$21.37
