The Director of Admission is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for the Office of Admission. The incumbent will develop, implement, monitor and adjust resources, activities and responsibilities related to recruitment and admissions. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment, the director will lead the development and administration of all existing and new admission practices, policies and procedures, which support overall campus recruitment goals.
The incumbent will assist in the development and implementation of a recruitment plan to generate academically talented and diverse applicants that will convert to enrolled and retained students through to graduation. The Director will provide innovative, strategic leadership by recruiting and enrolling a diverse, academically talented class of students by demonstrating experience with current best practices, including, but not limited to, territory management, student engagement, and admission operations. This position is responsible for the analysis of information and data necessary to create and communicate strategic university-wide admissions and recruiting plans and goals.
The Director of Admissions is a member of the Enrollment Management team and is expected to work collaboratively and strategically within and outside of the Enrollment Management to meet enrollment goals of the University.
1. The Director of Admission has overall administrative responsibility for areas related to recruitment and admission operations within the Admissions office. The director will assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs to support recruitment, selection and communication activities related to admissions.
Provide leadership and direction for the Office of Admissions in the areas of fiscal responsibility, efficient and effective recruitment practices, and a clear and consistent onboarding experience for prospective and admitted students.
Build strong working partnerships with campus partners to support efforts at improving the onboarding process of the firs-year, transfer and graduate students.
Identify and recommend improvements to departmental structure to streamline processes while reinvesting in new and emerging initiatives and needs.
Analyze and monitor metrics for measurement of all admissions activities and functions to report on ROI and effectiveness of resource allocation.
Provide ongoing assessment of visitor services functions to determine effectiveness of daily tours, large event days, outreach efforts and orientation programming.
Evaluate and direct recruitment activity and enrollment within existing territories, focus on customer service, develop relationships with prospective students and their student resources along with guidance counselors and other key constituents, and understand and respond to prospective student needs.
2. Coordinate all aspects of the Office of Admission in recruitment and onboarding prospective students including the development and implementation of a comprehensive admission strategy that attracts, recruits, admits and enrolls academically talented and diverse first-year, transfer, and graduate students.
Create and lead recruitment activities targeting the objectives and strategies of Undergraduate Admission, outreach and recruitment (including territory management), Colleges and campus departments.
Collaboratively develop strategies to meet institutional enrollment goals by actively participating in college and university enrollment planning and management processes.
Review and approve the marketing and communication plans to support the recruitment plan, travel activities and visitor experience.
Ensure the effectiveness of all programs and events conducted by the admissions office, including programming for prospective students, admitted students, transfer students, high school counselors and community college advisers and orientation.
Develop and present new recruitment strategies and programs that will advance the recruitment, operations, and visit goals of the office and the University.
3. Provide support for the department's budget and fiscal responsibilities.
Provide leadership and support on effective use of institutional resources to meet recruitment goals.
Work with the Enrollment budget manager on monitoring and evaluating annual budget.

A master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Computer skills are required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and CRM system, in addition to various additional applications (Mongoose, Calendly, etc.)
Strong proficiency with recruitment and enrollment strategies.
Excellent organizational, analytical and administrative skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively communicate to various constituencies.
Must be able to work across institutional departments, demonstrate success in prior positions, have strong supervisory and staff development skills, and exhibit a proven commitment to diversity.
A strong understanding of current issues within the profession is highly desirable.
