The Director of Recruitment at CCS works with a dynamic and committed team of admissions professionals to connect with talented and innovative students interested in pursuing a degree for a creative career. CCS seeks an optimistic-realist who understands the challenges of higher education enrollment and the value of building connections with teachers, parents, students and team-members. Located in Detroit’s Cultural Center, the College recruits and enrolls first time and transfer students from Michigan, 40 states and 20 countries. With representatives in Michigan and in regional locations, the Director of Recruitment will coordinate a strategy that integrates connections through meaningful interactions, service and resource sharing and with the goal of expanding access to art and design education among students of a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The successful candidate will lead with vision and compassion. The Director of Recruitment will report to the Executive Director of Admissions and will work closely with the Director of Admissions Operations and other office leaders.
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
Provide strategic leadership to create and oversee the development, implementation, management and assessment of comprehensive, equitable, recruitment outreach, and admission practices including the development of annual and forward-looking plans to meet the enrollment goals of the college;
Work closely with the Executive Director of Admissions and the Dean of Enrollment in the development of recruitment strategy, goals and projections using quantitative and qualitative data;
Coordinate team participation in recruiting activities on- and off-campus including presentations, career fairs, webinars, info sessions, office and campus interviews, conferences and various other events and platforms as needed domestically and internationally;
Manage the recruitment budget, evaluate and report annually on recruitment effectiveness, propose strategies for improvement and celebrate successes;
Hire, train and supervise both local and regionally-based Admissions Counselors to cover recruitment territories in the U.S. and in strategic international locations;
Coordinate opportunities to connect prospective students with members of the campus community, and collaborate with faculty, staff, current students, and alumni, as appropriate to meet prospective student needs, interests, and college search stage;
Create and maintain responsive and supportive relationships with art educators, high schools and independent counselors, community colleges, professional and local community organizations to support recruitment, admissions and outreach initiatives;
Actively engage the College’s Marketing and Communications team to ensure strategies support recruitment initiatives and goals, and to produce enrollment marketing presentations and collateral;
Engage the public through insightful presentation and conversation about art and design education at CCS; participate as speaker and presenter in support of Admissions and Recruitment activities on- and off-campus;
Actively participate in select recruitment activities and events, including some that require local or domestic travel;
Take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved;
Work independently and maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA and CCS policies;
Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications and Experience
Five or more years of relevant professional experience in higher education;
Budget management and financial reporting;
Proficient computer skills to include GoogleSuite, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, CRM experience;
Data analysis and management;
Excellent speaking, presentation, writing and communication skills;
Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and tight deadlines;
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Comfortable making informed decisions within stated guidelines;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with TargetX or Slate CRM systems;
Art or Design degree or education at the college level;
Experience working with student recruitment and/or admission processes;
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job is in persona and operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required.
