Position Summary:
The Practicum Education Coordinator will work with students in the MSW program and will be responsible for placing students in agencies, overseeing the quality of student placements, and facilitating practicum education seminars and orientation sessions for students.
Position Responsibilities:
Works with assigned MSW students to secure practicum placements in their local geographic area
Reviews planning form responses and conducts an educational assessment of students' practicum learning needs
Reviews students' resumes, assists with updating resumes as needed, and provides coaching for placement interviews
Reviews work-study proposals for students completing a practicum at their place of employment
Conducts outreach to agencies to develop and design placements
Ensures the completion of all necessary placement documentation including but not limited to Agency/Practicum Instructor Forms, Affiliation Agreements, student acknowledgment forms, and confirmed placement documents
Participates in the planning and facilitation of Practicum Education orientation sessions each semester
Address day-to-day student concerns and advise the Associate Director and/or Director of Practicum Education of student concerns when necessary
Collaborate with the Associate Director and/or Director of Practicum Education to complete student summaries, incident reports, and/or other documentation when necessary
Work closely with the Student Support Committee, Student Review Committee, and Academic Advisors to support student success
Participate in regular department meetings, working groups, and school committees as assigned
Provide supervision, consultation, and guidance to adjunct field planners as assigned
Experience & Educational Background:
MSW degree required, LMSW or LCSW preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in social work education and administration
Practicum education experience is required
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
strong organizational and time-management skills
ability to work on several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
ability to form working relationships with key agency executives and practicum instructors
proficiency with Excel, Microsoft applications, and other computer applications
Understanding of the vision and mission of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and Yeshiva University is required.
Salary Range:
$67,000 - $72,000
