KEY RESPONSBILITIES
The Associate Director of Global Citizenship takes a lead role in ensuring SUNY Fredonia students receive comprehensive advising and support before, during, and after an experience abroad. The Associate Director supports the office's strategic mission to increase international opportunities for students and works closely with the Interim Associate Vice President to facilitate, implement, and monitor all Study Abroad programs (Affiliated, Exchange, and Faculty-Led) and related services. Currently reporting to the Interim Associate Vice President of Retention and Academic Success the successful candidate will:
Serve as primary advisor for all Study Abroad programs and scholarship opportunities as well as coaching departments through the development of new programs;
Serves as an alternate Designated School Official (DSO) for the unit;
Management of the application process, including making acceptance decisions for exchange programs and approving applications for affiliated programs;
Communicating with students and partner institutions during application process;
Provides emergency response support related to health, safety, and unexpected travel incidents;
Trains new Study Abroad Program Student Assistants and student workers;
Serves as liaison with units across campus in matters related to Study Abroad students, including course approval and enrollment, transcript processing, and preparing program budgets;
Attends professional meetings, responds to requests for information, researches study abroad best practices and confers with colleagues about changes and updates to policies related to students studying abroad;
Assists campus leadership with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the office, including risk management, data collection and reporting, and assessment;
Takes a lead role in the development of a possible micro-credential or first-year experience program;
Manages application software, website content, and study abroad marketing materials;
Performs other duties assigned;
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
Provide academic advisement to students;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure track position beginning June 2023.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution;
Minimum of 2 years of directly related working experience in international education or relations;
Experience establishing and maintaining program budgets;
Knowledge of federal immigration regulations related to F and J visas;
Experience advising students in a higher education setting;
Experience studying, living, or working outside of the United States;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of a department mission;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, occasionally operating during non-standard hours as needed to meet professional obligations for the unit;
Ability to identify and meet tight deadlines, effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in higher education, international relations, or related field;
Experience managing crisis or emergency situations;
Ability to successfully present complex ideas to a variety of offices;
Current U.S. Passport and experience with international travel ;
Proficiency in a second language;
Experience working with SEVIS and visa process and compliance regulations;
Knowledge of Horizons application software, international social media apps, and government travel sites;
Proficiency with MS Office applications, Google Workspace tools, Zoom, and electronic communications.
