DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to creating and promoting public health innovations to advance equity, justice, and wellbeing for all and focuses on health, diversity, inclusion, and social equity in everything we do. We believe this starts in the workplace, where we actively strive to ensure a sense of belonging for everyone and honor the idea that through difference we are better together. In working to fulfill that vision we are comprised of more than 110 primary faculty and academics, 25 secondary faculty, and 200 staff members and provide mentorship and instruction to 225+ postgraduate and 650+ undergraduate students.
We conduct research and instruction in public health disciplines such as behavioral medicine, biostatistics and bioinformatics, epidemiology, global health, health policy, health equity, public mental health, environmental and climate health, and preventive medicine, totaling ~$125M in grants and contracts, 6 degree programs, and housing five recharge cores providing services to UC San Diego and external customers. We engage in research and teaching collaborations with many partners across the Health Sciences and UCSD, and partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School.
Uses advanced technical expertise and program management concepts to analyze and develop state-wide programs, training deliverables and evaluate progress towards goals and objectives. Works on highly complex program issues, where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of program strategies and objectives. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for program development, data analysis, and progress. Serves as "lead" and subject matter expert and liaison between project sites and associated agencies. As the area expert, provides guidance and conflict resolution, support and training to new hires and current project employees. Ensures that project employees are equipped and able to complete tasks. Completes logistical and administrative duties as needed. Will act as primary timekeeper for support staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Continuing education in related field required.
Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience.
Advanced knowledge of scientific area and understanding of how work may impact other areas.
In-depth analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.

Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations / courses to meet organizational needs.
Knowledge of managing a portfolio of business and management courses at the university level.
Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Updating and editing program documents including language and graphics to streamline content across all platforms. Read and filter data to share relevant content with program leadership. Lead on teaching new technology systems to program health screeners. Staying current with healthcare providers and onboarding of new platforms to maintain accurate test results and data.
Strong ability to network with affiliated organizations outside of the university to advance program effectiveness. Consistently works with outside officials from the county, state, etc., maintaining effective sharing of information and organization structure. Responsible for keeping affiliated organizations up to date on any changes and relevant findings.
Streamlining workflow of all community health workers and program volunteers. Leading task assignments, coordinating and providing instruction on use of Excel documents.
