The College of Engineering Undergraduate Student Affairs department is seeking a full-time, highly motivated, student-centered Academic Advisor. This position works with undergraduate engineering students in all majors and levels.
In this position, you will:
Provide guidance to students on appropriate course selection and long-term academic planning.
Connect students to relevant campus resources and support services when additional assistance is needed.
Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential documentation of all student interactions.
Engage with prospective students and their families through college events, recruitment programs, and summer orientation activities.
Collaborate closely with faculty, advisors, and staff across the department, the college, and the broader university community.
Stay informed on advising best practices, degree requirements, and current university policies and procedures.
Work occasional evenings or weekends to support key advising and student-facing events.
This position is designated as remote-friendly, which means that some duties may be performed remotely, as mutually agreed upon between the supervisor and the successful candidate. It is expected that this position works a minimum of 3 days in-person (on campus). The exact schedule will be determined by the supervisor and the successful candidate.
This is a fixed-term academic specialist position with an initial appointment of three years from the employee’s start date. The position is renewable contingent upon continued funding, satisfactory performance, and mutual agreement.

Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree completed by the position start date.
Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
Demonstrated ability to engage undergraduate students and support their academic and personal success.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and related productivity tools.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
Commitment to supporting students through key academic transitions, including guiding those who may need to explore alternative pathways and identify majors that fit their strengths and goals.
Familiarity with university policies, procedures, and student information systems; knowledge of career fields related to science and engineering is preferred.
