The Perkins CTE Advisors aim to increase student retention/completion and career readiness for students in all occupational programs and certificate programs. CTE Advisors/Success Coach will work collaboratively with Student Affairs and CTE faculty to ensure that students enrolled in targeted programs of study receive academic and career readiness support to best increase student success rates.
POSITION SUMMARY
CTE Advisor will work with students to help create academic plans in preparation to apply to HP programs, provide information regarding HP admission procedures, and deadlines. Provide support to general students as needed. Help at admission and HP events as needed. The Perkins CTE Advisors will offer activities to prepare students for careers and work with students regarding career and success planning.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide proactive and individualized success coaching and advising to students enrolled in CTE programs.
Respond to faculty-submitted and automatically-generated early alerts for an assigned caseload of students.
Identify at-risk CTE students within as assigned caseload of students using reports and analyzing data, creating a priority for outreach.
Provide proactive outreach to the at-risk CTE students within an assigned caseload of students.
Empower CTE students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services to become better connected to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services, and disability services.
Empower CTE students to complete career assessments and research
Provide CTE career-based workshops such as resume writing, mock interviews, and employment searches.
Engage CTE students in educational planning activities, supporting academic advisors and departments, to help guide students in achieving their educational goals.
Engage with faculty/staff, and other departmental staff, as appropriate, to remain current with CTE departmental policies and procedures.
Participate in CTE campus activities and programs as assigned or as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned including community engagement for CTE students for internships, employment opportunities, or career development.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Bachelor's degree required
Experience: Working with individuals of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission and practices an open-door policy
Must have demonstrated ability to employ a balanced and positive approach to all work activities and work collaboratively across various constituencies of the College and with vendors and external constituencies;
Exhibits strong skills in communication, customer and student focus, building relationships, organizing, and planning; technologically proficient in common office desktop software and familiar with cloud-based computing and collaborative platforms and software

Ability to work well independently and collaboratively
Datatel , Colleague, Self Service knowledge is a plus.
Other: Some standing will be required for sessions, presentations and open houses. Minimal walking and carrying materials. Some basic events set up.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Annual Salary is $55,000
NJ Educators Health Plan with free Vision and Dental. NJ State Pension plan.
15 vacation days, 15 sick days, 4 personal days, 2 floating holidays, all designated holidays and 5 non-designated holidays a year. 3 Partial Sick Days.
