Description Georgetown University School of Nursing (GUSON) desires an Assistant Dean for Professional Practice and Direct Entry Pathways who subscribes to and supports commitments to the mission, vision and core values of the greater university. The Assistant Dean for Professional Practice and Direct Entry Pathways is a vital member of the executive leadership team who leads in all aspects of pre-licensure/direct entry nursing education for the school.
The Assistant Dean for Professional Practice and Direct Entry Pathways represents the School on the Medical Center Campus and within the university in matters pertaining to pre licensure professional practice and direct entry programming and reports directly to the GUSON Vice Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs. This individual participates in the tripartite faculty role of teaching, research, and service.
This role is an administrative appointment and time served is at the discretion of the dean. The primary position description is administrative, with 50% effort dedicated to the administrative role. The remaining 35% effort is dedicated to teaching responsibilities and 15% dedicated to scholarship and service. Faculty responsibilities therefore will include contributing to related program instruction within the GUSON, advising students as needed, serving on assigned committees, and engaging in scholarly activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity, inclusiveness and antiracism as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment at GUSON.
Responsibilities of the Position:
Strategic Vision, Administration & Planning
Provides strategic vision and direction for all pre licensure, direct entry professional practice pathways programming for GUSON.
Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Innovation and Program Development to promote processes for new program development
Responsible for fiscal oversight and overall budget implementation/monitoring for pre licensure and direct entry professional practice programs
Collaborates with Student Affairs to track student progression, trends, and develops interventions as necessary to monitor student enrollment trends
Curriculum & Learning
Ensures the undergraduate and graduate core curriculum is integrated throughout all pathways as appropriate
Collaborates with academic and clinical partners to identify programming needs
Provides oversight and direction for programs to mapping essentials and competencies for new and revised programs.
Ensures seamless curriculum integration and pathways
Collaborates with the Senior Director for Clinical Education and Partnerships to identify clinical education needs (simulation, clinical placement, etc.)
Faculty
Manages faculty assignments/workload and monitors staffing needs
Supervises and evaluates the specialty and pathway program directors and assistant program directors (e.g., BSN, ABSN, MS-EN)
Ensures specialty faculty onboarding is completed including course management systems, testing software, orientation to course coordination and synchronous session faculty roles
Serves as a support and resource for faculty.
Serves as a role model in this position.
Accreditation & Compliance
Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence Assessment & Outcomes to ensure all new programming reflects current accreditation requirements and professional competencies (CCNE, AACN, BON, NLN Ctr Excellence, ACME, COA).
Collects and monitors data for annual reporting for accreditors and GUSON reporting (DC board of nursing)
Monitors faculty compliance and credentialing as needed (active license, CV, certifications etc.)
Responsible for monitoring program outcomes including N-CLEX, certification rates, end of term course evaluations, annual program evaluations
Requirements:
Doctorally-prepared with demonstrated experience in undergraduate, direct entry education and program development
Have a minimum of five years of progressive academic leadership experience
Demonstrated expertise in student-centered learning pedagogy/andragogy
Demonstrated expertise in all modes of content delivery including campus based, hybrid, and distance learning.
Strong team leadership and excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others. s
Meets the criteria for the academic rank of Associate Professor on the educator track
Demonstrates professional leadership activity in professional organizations.
Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.
Must be eligible to be licensed in the District of Columbia
Preferred Experience:
Prior leadership experience in nursing, nursing education.
Quality Matters Certification
Demonstrated expertise in distance learning program development
Evidence of practice, teaching, or research recognition and excellence through certification, awards, or advanced professional education.
Body of scholarly work related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The projected salary pay range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
