Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, the Assistant Dean for Clinical Simulation has responsibility for the quality, integration, and alignment of clinical skills education and clinical simulation as a part of the Shared Discovery Curriculum.
Job Responsibilities
25% Strategic Leadership and Program Oversight
Lead the vision and strategic direction for the Simulation program at MSU CHM.
Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of simulation-based educational programs, ensuring alignment with curricular and assessment needs, accreditation standards, and institutional goals.
Promote and support research initiatives related to clinical skills education and simulation, contributing to the academic body of knowledge in medical education.
20% Faculty Development and Mentorship
Provide mentorship, training, and support to faculty and staff involved in the design, implementation, and facilitation of clinical skills education and assessment activities.
Implement faculty development programs focused on best practices in simulation pedagogy, assessment, and debriefing techniques.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing ongoing feedback and evaluation to faculty and healthcare professionals involved in simulation-based teaching and training.
20% Curriculum Integration and Assessment
Collaborate with CHM curricular leaders, including the assessment and clinical experiences leaders, to ensure that simulation is appropriately integrated into assessment and competency-based frameworks, and to assess outcomes of that integration.
Provide oversight for the college’s innovative progress clinical skills exam, working with the director of assessment and team.
20% Operational Management
Working with the simulation manager and broader team, ensuring the successful management of the daily operations of the simulation centers, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Manage the planning and logistical execution of both live simulations and virtual simulations, ensuring that all scenarios are properly designed, tested, and delivered.
15% Team Leadership and Collaboration
Coordinate and supervise a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, standardized patient educators, support staff, standardized patients, and faculty to ensure the effective delivery of simulation-based learning experiences.
Foster innovative practices in simulation-based teaching, including simulation for skills development, clinical decision-making, and interprofessional education.

Required Degree
Doctorate -MD, DO, or equivalent advanced degree in a healthcare-related field
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate will have an MD, DO, or equivalent advanced degree in a healthcare-related field; current licensure appropriate to their field; leadership experience in medical education including curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation; and teaching experience with multiple modalities, including clinical skills and clinical simulation.
Desired Qualifications
We desire a candidate with experience with supervision of faculty and staff; fiscal stewardship and program level management; a track record of medical education scholarship; demonstrated collaborative approach; and experience with faculty development design or implementation. Academic department and rank will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
