The Academic Advisor II complies with all state, system, and university policies, regulations, rules, procedures, guidelines, and directives in a timely manner and adheres to confidentiality policies (FERPA). Advises undergraduate students concerning academic requirements. Collaborates on efforts related to advising-related activities. This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas with regular work hours of Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate. This position requires a flexible work schedule which at times will entail some evening and weekend work pending scheduled activities. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances. Serves as a Campus Security Officer (CSA).

Responsibilities:
85% Advises current and prospective undergraduate students concerning their academic requirements. Collaborates/coordinates with academic departments on efforts related to advising-related activities. Completes appropriate advising notes and documents day-to-day advising interactions. Maintains confidentiality of information and records. Makes decisions using individual discretion and independent judgment.
10% Works collaboratively with others on all advising-related activities. Under direction, works with all University stakeholders regarding academic advisement-related activities; presents training materials and programs on effective academic advisement for advisors and colleges/academic departments. Develops and maintains positive relationships with Academic Deans, faculty/staff, University departments, and other Texas A&M System institutions involved in Academic Advisement. Specifically participates in Systems, college, and department events, activities, and programs (i.e. orientation, career fairs, workshops, seminars, symposiums, and conferences). Answers inquiries and provides information to prospective students, students, and parents. Provides outstanding customer service.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience with student academic advising, transfer student services/activities, recruitment, or closely related experiences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is $41,000 to $50,761 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
