Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Center for Academic Advising seeks a temporary academic advisor that will provide academic advising and support during our incoming academic year. Advising caseload will be determined based on number of hours worked (range is 10-29 hours per week). This position will support first-year and transfer students and will be expected to provide accurate academic policy and curricular information to assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning and career goal clarification. This position will be working with all students served by the Center for Academic Advising which includes freshmen, transfers, military and pre-professional students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree with 18 hours of discipline focused master level course work
Experience in university/college setting
Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, effective organizational skills, and detail orientation
Must exhibit cultural competence and possess a broad understanding of student academic, developmental, and social needs
Working knowledge of student development theory, advising strategies, and best practices to support student success initiatives in a university/college environment
