Baylor University is seeking a dedicated Academic Advisor to join the School of Music. A Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience is required.
A Master's degree and two years of relevant work experience is preferred.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Advise a caseload of School of Music graduate students and facilitate graduation planning
Ensure current university policies and deadlines are met by the School of Music (i.e. registration, add/drop, etc...)
Communicate on a regular basis about graduate courses, majors, degree requirements, and policies/procedures with students and faculty
Coordinate the onboarding of new SoM graduate students
Prepare contracts for graduate associate positions
Keep signed contracts on file
Supervise and monitor GA assignment and compliance with contract stipulations
Provide SoM graduate program support in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies
Maintain graduate student records.
Keep accurate and complete program and student records from admissions through graduation clearance including demographic and career history (i.e. program assessment, accreditation, etc...)
Assist with maintaining graduate student handbook and related portions of the SoM website
Process graduate program curricular changes, which include curriculum proposals and updates to the course catalog
Assist with recital and oral exam committee scheduling and approvals
Assist with reports for annual graduate program assessment for SACS, HEADS, and accreditation
Assist the Recruitment Specialist with graduate application processing (i.e. applications, auditions, transcripts, TOEFL, etc.) and assist with SoM admissions and recruitment events as needed
Support the Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Success with disseminating graduate admissions and funding decisions to students and faculty
Attend new student orientation and assist the Undergraduate Academic Programs Manager and Academic Advisor with summer anti-melt initiatives
Provide support to the Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Success with coordinating graduate student success initiatives
Coordinate graduate student employment and hiring. Maintain and monitor database on hours worked by graduate student biweekly employees
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
