TheAssistantDeanofStudentsprovidessupportandcasemanagementforaportionoftheundergraduate students and is responsible for the oversight of some academic administrative responsibilities. The Assistant Dean works closely with students, families, faculty and staff to develop support structures for individual students. They develop dynamic relationships across campus in order to better support their students and help them thrive socially and academically.
The Assistant Dean works closely with the Center for Student Life and Advising team to develop programsandsystemstohelpallstudentsatBardthrive.Thisisafull-time,12-month,exemptposition.
EssentialDuties
Actasaprimarycontactforfaculty,staff,parents,andstudentsforthesectionofstudentstheyare responsible for; address personal/social/academic concerns or questions; manage individual student cases to provide support and advocacy for students with the use of campus resources
Activelyseekoutstudentswhohavedifficultyengagingwiththeacademicorsociallifeofthe collegeorwhoareexperiencingpersonaldifficulties;provideon-goingsupportandworkwith them to develop strategies for success
Participateinmidtermandfinalgradereviewandmeetwithstudentstocreateacademicsupport plans. Meet with students on academic probation to offer support and resources
Followupwithstudentsasnecessarytodiscusscampuspoliciesandregulations,explain available options, and make referrals to appropriate offices or resources
Providecasemanagementforstudentsinpsychologicalormedicaldistress.Coordinateon-and off-campusresourcesandworkwithstudents?familiestoarrangeandimplementsupportplans and, when necessary, leaves of absence
WorkcloselywiththeEquityandInclusionOfficetosupportBEOP,BOP,ECO,andPOSSE scholars in their orientation and continued participation in the Bard community
ServeasamemberoftheDeanofStudents'leadershipteamandactivelyparticipateinthe development, implementation, and assessment of Bard's student success mission
Engage a diverse student body and staff in fostering a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive campus environment that promotes student learning, academic success, personal growth, and connectiontocampuslifewhilemaintaininghighlevelsofadvocacyforstudents,parents,and campus partners
Participateinweekendcollegewideevents,includingduringLanguage&Thinking,Admitted Students Day, Family Weekend, and Commencement
CollaboratewiththeDeansofStudiesandotherDeansofStudentstomanagestudentcaseload and to support students
Participate in the on-duty rotation by supporting the primary on-duty staff. Be available for consultationandcometocampusforemergenciesasneeded;participatein/leadthefollow-up response

Compensation: $75,000 - $80,0000 This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
