Western Carolina University is the UNC systems westernmost campus and has been consistently ranked as one of the top 15 public regional institutions in the South. Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Senior Academic Advisor will:
Serve as an initial enrollment advisor for all incoming students; new freshmen, transfers, and re-entering
Provide developmental, academic advising to undeclared students
Collaborate with Career Services staff to provide general career counseling
Represent the Advising Center at recruitment functions
Teach academic success courses
Assist with the development, revision, and updating of Advising Center processes, forms, and publications
Maintain appropriate advising records and documentation
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of academic advising and advising programs
Participate in ongoing professional development and encourage the growth of colleagues
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the needs of students and the Advising Center
Be the primary point of contact for the assigned college (College of Business).
Meet regularly with the Dean and Associate Dean of assigned colleges, and relay this information back to support advisors and the Advising Center as a whole
Provide advising information and support for the assigned departments
Present advisor educational workshops for faculty and staff within the assigned colleges
Support WCU student recruitment initiatives
Serve as a liaison for WCU Freshman Admission staff.
Supervise support advisors for college.
Additional Duties include:

Assist with the development, revision, and updating of Advising Center processes, forms, and publications as needed.
Maintain appropriate electronic advising records and documentation.
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of academic advising and advising programs.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the needs of students and the Advising Center.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications:
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America without the need for employer sponsorship or any other immigration-related assistance.
Minimum of a Masters Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
