Sequoyah School is expanding its high school enrollment and seeks a Spanish teacher to grow the team.
Roles and Responsibilities
Sequoyah School seeks a dynamic teacher to join the faculty. This position will work closely with members of the Spanish Department to build a vibrant program.
Spanish faculty position responsibilities include:
Teach a Z block mini-course elective for 3 mods on course of your choice
Serve as an Advisor to a designated group of students; responsibilities include academic coaching, facilitating lessons on diversity & inclusion, and interpersonal skill development and team building
Chaperone two Field Studies camping trips per year (one in the fall or winter; one in the spring to Costa Rica); including driving a 10-passenger school van
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years language instruction at the middle, high school, or college level. Successful candidates will also have the following qualifications:
Have a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language or related subject, masters prefered
Have experience teaching Spanish language-related subjects
Are able to demonstrate mastery in the field of language learning and teaching
Professional experience in progressive models of education and curricula preferred
Are passionate about project-based, student-centered pedagogy and experiential learning
Have experience with or have an interest in changemaking and service-learning
Have an interest in supporting camping and field studies trips
Are interested in the collaborative work of faculty, including curriculum planning
