Position Summary: The Middle School Science Teacher will teach grade-level science classes to middle school grades 5-8. As a full-time faculty position, this role may also include serving as a student advisor and supporting a co-curricular activity by coaching a sport or engaging in another major school activity. All faculty members are expected to support activities and events that contribute to the life of the school and to attend departmental, divisional, and all-school meetings after school.

The following are essential duties and functions of this role. Duties can change and others may be assigned:
Teach the equivalent of four sections of Middle School Science; plus advisory.
Will demonstrate mastery of curriculum and teaching across areas of middle school physics, chemistry, and biology.
Adopt innovative instructional and assessment practices consistent with departmental philosophy and pedagogies.
Embark in professional development and keep current with best practices.
Accompany students on occasional trips.
Attend and contribute to meetings during the school day and after school, which includes weekly faculty meetings.
Attend community events throughout the school year.
Education, Competencies and Experience:
An undergraduate degree in Science, Science education, or a similar discipline is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
Have completed at least three years of teaching middle school, or transferable experience, preferably in an independent school.
Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.

Excited about teaching middle school students to engage in our core educational practices

Salary: The salary range is expected to be $73,000-$85,000. The actual compensation, will be based on the candidates relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations.
