The Opportunity:
For the 2025-2026 school year, Trinity-Pawling School seeks a passionate, innovative, and collaborative educator to serve as the Director of the Center for Learning Achievement.
How You Will Help The School:
This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape and lead one of the school’s signature programs, supporting students with diverse learning needs in their academic journeys. The Director will work closely with faculty, admissions, students, and families to ensure every student’s success, building upon Trinity-Pawling’s reputation for excellence and proactive learning strategies.
The Center for Learning Achievement (CLA) is a national model for educational support, offering individualized programs designed to empower students with learning differences. As a Director, you’ll oversee all aspects of the program while advocating for the academic and personal growth of each student. We are seeking a leader who brings a strong educational background, commitment to innovation, and the ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Provide visionary leadership for the Center for Learning Achievement, aligning the program’s mission with the school’s broader goals.
Mentor, support, and manage the learning support team, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.
Develop, implement, and refine programs and initiatives that meet diverse learning needs and help students achieve academic independence.
Liaise between the CLA and the broader Trinity-Pawling community, promoting inclusivity and collaboration across departments.
Enrollment & Admissions
Collaborate closely with the Admissions team to attract and evaluate prospective students, ensuring a strong fit for both the students and the program.
Continuously evaluate and improve the CLA’s programs, incorporating the latest trends and research in learning support and educational technology.
Strengthen relationships with independent educational consultants, feeder schools, and community partners to promote awareness and interest in Trinity-Pawling.
Assess application materials and conduct interviews to determine whether Trinity-Pawling can meet the student’s specific academic and learning support needs.
Effectively communicate with families about the program’s offerings, expectations, and resources.
Teaching & Instruction
Teach 1-2 sections of classes, demonstrating best practices in differentiated instruction and engaging students with varied learning styles.
Develop individualized support plans for students, working closely with faculty, advisors, and families to ensure personalized academic success.
Serve as a resource for faculty, providing professional development and strategies to support students with learning differences.
Monitor student progress, adjusting support plans and programs to ensure optimal outcomes.
Advising and Role Modeling
Advise students one-on-one regularly, addressing academic goals and promoting age-appropriate life skills such as interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and time management.
Act as a mentor and positive role model, reinforcing clear boundaries and guidelines, encouraging student autonomy and independence, and demonstrating transparency.
Building Relationships
Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through regular updates, meaningful conversations, and constructive feedback.
Participate fully in campus life, engaging in extracurricular activities to connect with students beyond the classroom.
Growing Professionally
Develop personal mastery by actively participating in professional development opportunities, networking to incorporate best practices, and staying updated with relevant professional publications.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform any additional duties as required to contribute to the overall success of the students & the school.
Your Qualifications and Strengths
You will have a Master’s degree in education, special education, or a related field and a Orton-Gillingham Certification as well as:
expertise in differentiated instruction, learning support strategies, and assessment methods, with a strong ability to engage hard-to-reach students.
excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment that supports diverse learning needs.
And you can
read and decipher educational testing (such as neuropsychological education, 504s, IEPs, etc) or prospective students
engage adolescent boys in learning in ways that manifest support, understanding, and empathy;
empower and embody the Trinity-Pawling mindset through education, communication, and encouragement;
incorporate differentiated instruction and project-based learning techniques;
integrate a thoughtful pedagogy that aligns with the mission and vision of the School;
communicate clearly, effectively, and compassionately (orally and in writing) with students, parents, and colleagues;
deal effectively with ambiguity and change;
build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues;
give and receive constructive feedback;
demonstrate a clear interest in being part of a community that is committed to diversity and inclusion;
coach athletics and/or lead extra-curricular activities;
establish and reinforce clear boundaries while being a positive role model for students;
follow procedures by adhering to the School’s policies,
multi-task and meet deadlines,
commit to the assorted various evening & weekend activities and responsibilities that occur on a routine basis
travel up to 30 % of the time
