The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the central coordinating and support organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges. TCCS, with about 300 staff members, provides exceptional shared services to 9,000 students, and almost 3,600 faculty and staff. TCCS staff work in both student-facing services as well as administrative and operational services. Our numerous departments are located throughout The Claremont Colleges campus in the beautiful city of Claremont, California.

The Assistant Dean of Student for Chicano Latino Student Affairs is an accomplished and collaborative leader responsible for enhancing the learning, cultural, and social environment of Latinx students at The Claremont Colleges. The Assistant Dean will have primary responsibility for the assessment and development of student programs, events, and activities. In collaboration with the Dean, the Assistant Dean will play a pivotal role in developing the mission and vision for Chicano Latino Student Affairs (CLSA). This role brings leadership, vision, integrity, and a team-oriented philosophy to the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Function Title/Category
Provide assessment and development of Latinx student programming that enhance cultural awareness, leadership skill, and identity development.
Responsible for developing and implementing programming, marketing, communications, and assessment for Latinx Heritage, Cesar Chavez celebrations, and other culturally relevant activities throughout the year.
Manage the implementation of assessment tools in the programming of activities and events by CLSA.
Provide leadership and direction to the Chicanix Latinx Graduation Planning Committee to implement the CLSA Graduation Ceremony.
Responsible for developing and assessing the leadership training programs for Sponsors/Peer mentors, Orientation, Latinx Leadership Council, and the supervision of student interns.
Serve as a student advocate, academic advisor, and mentor for Latinx students.
Assist Latinx students in applying for summer research programs and internships.
Work with students and provide guidance through the application process to graduate and professional schools.
Demonstrate knowledge and commitment to contemporary issues faced by Latinx students on elite college campuses, as well as general knowledge about scholarship and pedagogy that inform and can potentially address these complex issues.
Hold office hours at CLSA and the seven institutions of The Claremont Colleges.
Actively engage with faculty and foster new collaboration and initiatives with member institutions of The Claremont Colleges.
Responsible for providing programming, resources, and support to the Latinx Leadership Council.
Coordinate and/or collaborate with Latinx affinity clubs/organizations/groups across TCC. This includes but is not limited to being in charge of the Latinx Leadership Council.
Collaborate with a broad range of college and TCCS offices to develop support for Latinx students.
As assigned, serve as the CLSA representative to various college committees, such as the Academic Standards Committee, staff searches, and program reviews.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Recruit, select, train, evaluate, and develop staff.
Clearly communicate job requirements and expectations.
Coordinate training and resources to support the performance of work duties.
Provide ongoing coaching that is balanced, helpful, timely, and contributes to a work environment of open communication, ownership of duties, and trust.
Address performance issues early, create appropriate documentation, and ensure follow through. Collaborate with Human Resources as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:
A master's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in student programming, student personnel, higher education administration, or a closely related role. Some leadership experience in student services/affairs in higher education.
Competencies:
Comprehensive knowledge of student development and best practices designed to support student success in a liberal arts college environment.
Knowledge of how to meet the academic, cultural, and social needs of Latinx students of diverse backgrounds, multiple identities, experiences, and sexual orientations.
Discretion, good judgment, and tact. Demonstrate composure in difficult and unexpected situations.
Fluent language skills in English, including the ability to write with proper grammar, spelling, and business etiquette.
Fluent Spanish language skills, including the ability to write with proper grammar, spelling, and business etiquette. Skills in translation and interpretation are desirable.
Effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Switch quickly between tasks and demonstrate responsiveness to constituents, subordinates, peers, and superiors.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and work with confidential files and information.

Preferred Experience:
A graduate degree in Education, Organizational Studies, Cultural/Ethnic Studies.
Five years of professional experience in student affairs in a college setting.
Experience working with Latinx students of multiple identities, experiences, and sexual orientations.
Experience with Latinx students of Caribbean, South, and Central American heritage.
Experience working in a residential, liberal arts college or university setting.
Work Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 40 hours scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work holiday, weekend, and/or evening hours. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or business unit.
COMPENSATION
Pay: The annual salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with the duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required for the position, between $70,000-$76,500.
