Norwood has an opening for an experienced, dynamic sixth grade reading/language arts and social studies teacher beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Curricular and programmatic responsibilities for this position include teaching reading/language arts, social studies, and advisory. Successful candidates will work closely with other teachers on the sixth grade team to cultivate grade-wide connectedness, plan and teach lessons, report on student progress, communicate with other parents, and perform various duties associated with being a full-time faculty member.
Strong applicants will have experience designing and implementing reading/language arts and social studies curricula, a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a diverse, equitable, inclusive, child-centered community. Additional qualifications include excellent communication skills, flexibility, organization, a sense of humor, and a love for working with young adolescents.
Ideally, applicants should have three to five years of working with middle school aged students. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $110,000, dependent upon experience. This is a full-time, 10-month position. Work hours are 7:45am to 3:45pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
