St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School seeks a full-time Learning Resources Coordinator with the skills and desire to inspire students in their academic pursuits. The ideal candidate will compassionately manage an active learning resources center and delight in working with middle school and upper school students.
Responsibilities include:
Providing leadership and support for study skills instruction for students in grades 6 - 12
Providing individual and small group help sessions with time management, organization, and other study skills
Working with the Academic Dean and Middle School Coordinator to support student academic progress
Writing student action plans for students who qualify and working with faculty to implement those plans
Proctoring and coordinating assessment for students who receive accommodations
Providing a quiet study area or test-taking environment in a supervised space for students with accommodations
Seeking College Board and ACT testing accommodations for those students who qualify
Monitoring student academic progress for students of concern
Communicating with parents regularly regarding student progress
Overseeing the peer tutoring program
Coordinating outside tutoring for students needing course-specific help
Acting as a liaison with family engaged tutors
Coordinating extra help for students in math, science, and writing through the Math & Science Lab and the Writing Center
Providing exam preparation support
Serving as an advisor
Teaching a class
Assisting with weekend campus activities and supervision
Required Qualifications
An undergraduate and advanced degree and/or certification for working with students with special learning needs
3 - 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of learning differences, psycho-educational tests, reports, and assistive technology
Knowledge of interpreting assessments, test results, and academic achievement
Understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum
Knowledge of brain-based study strategies
An aptitude for responding with empathy to a diverse community of learners
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work on and complete multiple tasks/projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions
Ability to assess situations accurately for the function of good decision-making
High-energy and enthusiastic about working in a boarding school environment
Willingness to engage in all aspects of the SAS community while promoting and supporting the School’s mission, vision, and values
