Job DescriptionDakota County Technical College (DCTC) TRIO Upward Bound is seeking qualified applicants to teach foreign language in our summer program.We are open to offering any language besides English! This will be an elective course, so students will opt-in to the class.Responsibilities Plan, implement, and lead all aspects of the Upward Bound summer language course.Teach one 55-minute section Tuesdays-Fridays for 5 weeksAttend UB Summer Orientation and all mandatory staff trainings as directed by Project DirectorRegularly communicate and meet with UB advisor(s) about student progress and concernsAttend weekly check-in meetingsPerform other duties as assignedPayment for the course will be via stipend.Minimum QualificationsBachelor?s degree or higherQualified to teach language at a high school or college levelAt least 1 year teaching language, preferably at a high school levelKnowledge of expectations for high school- and college-level language classesExperience working with high school students, specifically low-income and/or potential first generation college studentsKnowledge of common barriers low-income/first-generation college students face while in collegeAbility to connect with and motivate high school studentsAbility to work independently without supervisionWork Shift (Hours / Days of work)All scheduled work hours are at Dakota County Technical College unless otherwise noted. Students receive instruction in English, math, science, and foreign language, research postsecondary options, visit college campuses, and develop their leadership skills. The summer program takes place at Dakota County Technical College and serves around 40 students.
Dakota County Technical College endeavors to serve students within nearby communities, as well as those coming from countries around the world.
