Latin School of Chicago is looking for a full-time Upper School Physics Teacher starting Fall 2025. This position includes our generous benefits package.

Responsibilities:
Teach four classes within the Science department.
3 or more years teaching experience
Collaborate with a team of teachers on curriculum and assessment.
Reflect on teaching practice, often trying new approaches to create an equitable and engaging experience for all students in science.
Value the opportunity to serve as a student advisor.
Work with students outside of class for extra help or enrichment.
Effectively communicate departmental philosophy and student performance with parents in writing grade reports and conducting parent-teacher conferences.
Be an active member of the science department; participating in professional development opportunities and department meetings.
Be an active member of the Upper School division; participating in division-wide committees, seeking and creating opportunities to collaborate with faculty beyond the department.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education, Physics, or another related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree is minimum requirement.
Effective oral and written communicator with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Familiar with a standards-based approach to learning or open to learning how to facilitate standards-based cycles of feedback in their classroom
Familiarity with the physics modeling curriculum is a plus
Ability to teach Chemistry is a plus
Place a high value on diversity and foster an appreciation for differences in our community.
Well versed in utilizing educational technology, contributing to interdisciplinary projects, and experience with project- based learning is desired.
Understands the needs of children and supports the social/emotional growth of all students.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand for long periods at a time
Able to speak clearly so listeners can understand
Able to see details of people and objects more than a few feet away
Compensation:
Salary is based on education level and years of experience as outlined in our Faculty Scale.
