Reporting to the Director of the Career and Professional Development Institute, the Assistant Director of Internships will serve as primary internship advisor to undergraduate and graduate students.
Guide students on issues related to career development and internships, including resume writing, cover letter preparation, and internship search strategies.
Cultivate employer relationships in order to increase engagement through internship and opportunities for students, on campus interviewing, job and internship fairs, information sessions, industry events, panel discussions, and part-time and full-time job opportunities.
Plan, implement, and host information sessions, and seminars on relevant subjects with guest speakers.
Coordinate employer referrals for the internal and grant sponsored internship programs
Identify and refer students eligible for scholarships and fellowships and collaborate with the Foundation Office to process the applications
Develop and deliver focused workshops to enhance students??? professional development skills
Guide students through mock interviews with constructive feedback
Oversee and manage special introductory workshops related to 311 and MTA internships
Oversee the CPD! Internship Program and PAID Program in partnership with the CPDI Senior Associate Director
Act as liaison to academic departments to coordinate and participate in collaborative programs
Track and prepare reports on student participation in programs
Develop and expand knowledge of regional employers and workforce trends
Identify and pursue areas for internship development.
Actively participate with external professional associations and groups to ensure that the Institute remains current in best practices and information related to college career services
Assist with the expansion of new internship and externship opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years related experience required.
Preferred Qualification:
Experience in a higher education setting, student career services, and a consistent record of accomplishment preferred.
Experience in leading and advising students in professional/career development
Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.
Strong presentation and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Team player with ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with the campus community
Detail orientation and commitment to excellence
Knowledge of current trends and practices in internships/externships
Ability to organize and implement change, analyze and evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of projects/programs, keep up-to-date on changes in technology, and provide recommendations regarding best practices where it relates to internships Ability to generate and identify opportunities to improve present programs
Ability to meet deadlines for assigned projects and reports
Ability to provide guidance, feedback, support, and encouragement to students

Represents career office on college committees, conferences, and to the College community at large
Conducts outreach programming, orienting employers and other constituents to services
Performs related duties as assigned.
