Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Director for Student Leadership and Involvement (SLIC).
Provides supervision, leadership and oversight of the Student Leadership and Involvement Center and advises the Creighton Students Union, comprehensive student government. Serves as a member of the Student Life Leadership Team and leads the division’s assessment and coordinates the Student Life strategy. With others, serves as a University Responder on call when offices are closed including nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and administer a comprehensive student engagement and belonging plan through the oversight of the Student Leadership and Involvement Center. Provide consistent supervision and leadership for professionals to assure alignment and contribution to divisional and institutional goals.
Serve as the primary advisor to the Creighton Students Union, student government, including the executive officers, House of Delegates and Appropriations Committee. Assist in the allocation of approximately $1M to clubs and organizations.
Provide oversight of student clubs and organizations, including the Student Organization Review Committee, events policy, related decisions and risk management strategies. Coordinate responses to student engagements that involve demonstrations, activism, and controversial events, including educating students on policies and reviewing and approving controversial events/activities.
Strategic planning, and policy development, operational budget planning, management of critical incidents and student issues, and unit/staff evaluations and assessments, Serve on designated University committees and special project teams. Provide leadership for strategic initiatives.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to analyze and make strategic decisions necessary to achieve organizational goals.
An understanding of the value of holistic student development and of the motivations of students who participate in co-curricular learning experiences.
An understanding of and the ability to apply student development and learning outcomes theories.
The ability to sustain communication with diverse groups, anticipate problems, reconcile conflicts, and maintain a strong philosophical base for student activities.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or counseling required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in student activities or related area is required;
Background and familiarity with philosophies of NASPA/ACPA, NACA, ACUI and/or AFA is desirable.
