Salary Range: $46,500 - $52,312. Generally starts at $46,500. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications..

Summary
Partnering with students to successfully navigate college is the mission of Academic Advising at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Academic advisors at UCCS accomplish this mission by providing high quality, personalized, and comprehensive advising to degree-seeking students from orientation through graduation. Advisors partner with students and the campus community to empower students to take ownership of their education and be successful in college. Advisors support and challenge students in their learning and development by:
1) Providing practical and developmental guidance that respects each student's individual path,
2) Facilitating student exploration and navigation of educational and personal goals,
3) Developing strategies for student success in college and connecting students to opportunities and resources available for their growth, and
4) Helping students to develop self-authorship and personal responsibility and to value higher education as they engage in their educational journey
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide proactive and developmental academic advising to undergraduate students by analyzing student's career and academic goals, degree progress, deficiencies and test results, and by recommending appropriate course of action or referrals.
- Interpret and communicate accurate information about campus policies and degree requirements.
- Support new student enrollment by providing intake appointments and packets for orientation, help students register for their first semester of classes, and provide follow up and regular communication from orientation through the start of the first semester of classes.
- Evaluate transfer credit from other colleges for application toward undergraduate degree programs by determining how the transfer courses equate to our requirements.
- Work closely with academic and other departments, while providing outstanding customer service.
- Determine how to best facilitate the student's success and development and provide advising that improves overall student retention.
- Contribute to the success of the department and University by abiding by team norms, accomplishing tasks affecting other team members in a timely manner, work closely with team members in creating presentations and advising resources, and representing Academic Advising in a professional way at all times.
- Appropriately document all contact with students, including appointment notes, email, and phone conversations.
- Actively participate in department initiatives for student success, early alert outreach and intervention.
- Collaborate with campus departments and partners such as Career Services and Orientation to support student success.
- Proactively manage a caseload of students by utilizing technology to identify students in need of advising support, communicating regularly with students, and connecting students to the resources and opportunities to help them engage and find belonging at UCCS.
