Job Title: Math Teacher
Reports To: Math Department Chair
Position Summary: Vermont Academy seeks a math teacher with broad familiarity and experience with high school math. We offer a traditional high school math sequence, from introductory algebra to advanced-level statistics and calculus. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a range of courses. However, candidates with a background in statistics, calculus, mathematical modeling, or coding will get special consideration. Most important is an enthusiasm for working with adolescents.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach four to five sections of math courses.
- Live in, or serve as an affiliate to one of the Academy’s dormitories 1-2 nights per week, coach or supervise an activity during two seasons, priority given to those with experience with crew, nordic skiing, or soccer, serve as an academic advisor, monthly weekend duty, and participate in school traditions, and standing committees.
- Salary is based on degrees, experience, and the contributions the candidate can make to the school.
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in education and/or mathematics is preferred, but other academic and/or professional backgrounds will be considered. An Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of previous experience preferred, but not required.
