The Dean of the McKeown School of Education is the Chief Academic Officer for the School of Education, reporting to the Provost and Academic Vice President. This role is pivotal in advancing the prominence of the School of Education: through the pursuit of excellence in scholarship and educational programs, by advocating for the continual development and support of members of the School’s community,; for appointing and developing a diverse faculty and staff, with specific reference to the university’s status as an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution, and for developing initiatives in the School that will contribute to the University’s ever-growing importance to the North Shore region and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The School of Education (MSoE) offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs, including 4+1 pathways, M.Ed., MAT, and Initial Licensure options, as well as advanced studies in educational leadership and teacher preparation across diverse fields such as early childhood, special education, TESOL, and more. Through partnerships with school districts and initiatives like the Institute for Advancing Education and the Center for Educational Leadership, MSoE supports students and educators at all stages of their careers, strengthening the educator and leadership pipelines.

An earned doctoral degree in education or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
A demonstrated record of success in increasingly responsible management and leadership positions in a teaching-oriented university of comparable complexity
An outstanding record in classroom teaching, experience in/with educational settings at the PK-12 and college levels, and education-related research commensurate with appointment to the rank of (full) professor
A clear and strong record of commitment to educator preparation, with active knowledge of matters germane to educator licensure, including responsiveness to applicable regulatory obligations
A record of success in participating in and promoting effective shared governance
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of having led and transformed institutions to better serve marginalized students, families and communities
Experience with securing and managing external grants and/or gift funds
Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Higher Education regulations that govern the School’s educator licensure programs
Experience having managed and led in a unionized context
Evidence of having earned tenure at a four-year college or university
