Job Description:
Assist with the designing, coordinating and evaluation of the clinical curriculum of the PA program.
Work with the Program Director, college administration and WMU administration on the development of clinical rotation sites.
Develop relationships with WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, local hospitals, and other local and statewide health organizations to facilitate rotation development.
Strengthen and expand current clinical sites.
Supervise the Coordinator of Clinical Rotations.
Work with the Coordinator of Clinical Rotations to ensure adequate and appropriate placements and experiences for second-year students.
Strengthen, expand and oversee first-year clinical experiences.
Develop service learning opportunities for first-year students.
Coordinate simulations and Interprofessional Education experiences for first- and second-year students.
Coordinate back-to-campus activities for second-year students.
Develop curriculum for and coordinate back-to-campus clinical issues seminars for second-year students.
Teach in areas of expertise, both didactic and clinical year.
Evaluate clinical skills of second-year students by developing, administering and grading appropriate assessments and assignments periodically (including H&Ps, SOAP notes, OSCEs, skills testing and a summative evaluation prior to graduation).
Coordinate, grade and monitor end-of-rotation exams for second-year students.
Serve as an academic advisor for second-year students.
Provide academic counseling and remediation for second-year students as needed.
Assist with accreditation requirements and processes.
Assist with the admission process, including applicant reviews and interviews.
Serve on program committees as directed by the Program Director.
Maintain records of professional activity and faculty development.
Service to the department, the university, the profession, and the community.
Contributing to an interdisciplinary environment of instruction, and community collaborations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Short Job Description:
Must be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
NCCPA Certification.
Earned Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Three years of clinical experience as a practicing, licensed PA.
Clinical teaching experience (preceptor) or classroom teaching experience.
