1. Provide leadership for the center's core program areas, including the Fellowship for Public Education Leadership, the Master of Public Education Management, admissions for both programs, and engagement with Broad alumni network. Work with TBC team to ensure an impactful learning & leadership development experience for Fellows and Master's students; strategic and effective recruitment and selection processes that result in excellent cohorts that are diverse along multiple dimensions; and ongoing effective coordination and partnership with faculty. Continue to build and deepen connection and engagement with Broad alumni network of 900+ leaders across the country, with specific attention & support for those alumni continuing to work in school systems. 2. Coordinate & advance the center's work in research, in coordination with faculty lead, advancing the study of K-12 public education with leadership & management perspective & with school systems as the unit of study. Support development of a data repository. 3. Develop & lead strategy for convening & engagement to ensure expanded access to programmatic learnings & research, with a focus on connecting researchers, policymakers & practitioners. 4. Build TBC profile as thought leader in K-12 public education sector, elevating research findings, highlighting work of Fellows, students & alumni & highlighting programmatic learnings. Elevate awareness of TBC as key force in supporting large, urban school systems to improve outcomes. 5. Develop the annual budget for TBC, lead strategy to attract additional philanthropic support to expand reach & impact in next phase of work, in collaboration with SOM Development. 6. Engage with TBC Advisory Committee; TBC alumni network, including Alumni Advisory Council & alumni affinity groups; TBC Foundation & other key groups in service of center's vision, mission & strategy. 7. Collaborate with senior leadership across SOM & Yale to ensure TBC's learning & impact extend beyond program participants & alumni to additional audiences and stakeholders, ensure the center's contribution to SOM's mission of educating leaders for business & society.
Required Skill/ability 1: Deep familiarity with the current state, challenges, and opportunities of K-12 public education in the United States, and the role of leadership and management in school systems particularly in large, urban areas serving historically under-served communities. Strong team-builder and high-performance leader.
Required Skill/ability 2: Demonstrable capacity to articulate a strategic vision, put forward relevant thought leadership, and connect and engage with wide-ranging audiences. Demonstrable credibility in the K-12 public education leadership community.
Required Skill/ability 3: Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and track record of building and leading diverse, inclusive teams. Demonstrable capacity to build effective partnerships, raise external presence and profile of the organization, and attract philanthropic support.
Required Skill/ability 4: Entrepreneurial self-starter and creative problem-solver with the ability to offer innovative, consensus-building solutions.
Required Skill/ability 5: Superior demonstrated written and oral communication and presentation skills, ability to craft and articulate messages for various audiences. High-level analytical skills and ability to deploy resources efficiently and effectively.
Preferred Education: First-hand experience in K-12 public education, ideally as a system-level leader in large, urban school systems (including school districts, charter management organizations, and/or state education agencies). Direct experience and alignment with the mission, vision, and approach of The Broad Center in Los Angeles and/or The Broad Center at the Yale School of Management.
