General Statement of Duties:
The Department of Computer and Information Science at Westfield State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall of 2025. We seek an individual with energy, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to both teaching and advising students in our Computer Science and Computer Information Systems programs. The selected candidate will teach important courses within our programs, provide advising and other services to our students, and participate in meetings and events as a full-time faculty member of our department.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to:
Teaching courses in our departments that are part of our programs.
Having knowledge and experience in the following areas: Data structures and algorithms, Software Engineering, Database management and application development, Web programming, and Computer Networking.
Having good knowledge and experience of the C/C++, Java and Python programming languages, which are used frequently in our program.
Being comfortable teaching various classes to a diverse group of students with different backgrounds and learning abilities.
Acting as advisor to a certain number of students enrolled in our programs.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to undergraduate education and a broad potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
Job Requirements: Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate degree in relevant field (ABD candidates will be considered)
At least 2 years of prior teaching experience in higher education
Industry experience with software development
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and expertise and/or industry experience in the area of computer security
Knowledge and experience in data science, machine learning, and data mining techniques, including practical applications and familiarity with relevant tools and frameworks (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, etc.)

Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
