The Assistant Director Career Advising will assist full and part-time MBA and/or specialized master’s degree students, as well as alumni with developing and refining a comprehensive strategy for securing an internship and/or full-time employment. The Assistant Director Career Advising will also be responsible for helping prepare and deliver various professional development activities, as directed by the Associate Director of Career Development. The Assistant Director will work directly with students and recruiters in their respective field. This role will also work directly with faculty in their career functions, will serve as a liaison to student clubs, support the admissions process, and partner with other members of the career services team to develop and implement innovative workshops and programs.
Career Advising (70%)
• Provide career advice to assigned students.
• Assist in developing an academic and job search plan- including company list and networking.
• Collaborate with academic advisors to ensure alignment of student academic and career goals.
• Review and revise resumes and personal brand statements.
• Assist students with employer engagement & achievement of placement goals.
• Assist students with job offer negotiations.
• Provides information and resources specific to international students' career development needs.
• Understand hiring trends in various industries and companies for assigned functional area.
• Conduct mock interviews & provide feedback.
• Serve as coach and mentor to less experienced advisors.
• Source career outcome data from current and recently graduated students to support internal and external reporting needs.
• Ad hoc duties as assigned.
Professional Development (25%)
• Support in the creation and delivery of professional development content and orientation.
• Conduct research on trends and generate ideas for new professional development programming.
• Administers assessments and other tests and evaluates results to match students’ strengths, interests, aptitudes, and personalities to career options.
• Support the career development programs for various career path groups and populations.
• Serve as staff advisor to aligned student club.
Other duties as assigned (5%)
Job Summary
Acts as lead resource for the career services team. Provides career coaching services and manages implementation of career development programming and projects. Drives career management participation in the admissions process, maintains confidential records, and assists with strategic planning.
