Job Summary:The Associate Director of College Counseling, as a member of an office that is at the forefront of the profession nationally, will guide St. George's students through a complex college landscape, advising and advocating for every student in a personal, positive, and professional manner. We seek dynamic and collaborative candidates who will energetically participate broadly in the life of the school, while also possessing the skills and expertise to help advance the school’s equity and inclusion strategic plan.
Responsibilities include:
Assist the Director of College Counseling in the design and implementation of a program that offers individual and group meetings, as well as family programming, to guide students as they search for, apply to, and enroll in college.
Work closely with families to support those applying for aid; be versed in financial aid process;;
Advise students on curricular choices;
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding the college process;
Work with international students to understand US college admissions, specifically aspects unique to international applicants;
Meet with college admissions representatives who visit our campus and facilitate meetings between college representatives and our students;
Serve as a liaison with college admissions offices throughout the year and be active in learning about and visiting college campuses;
Write official, thorough, and professional counselor letters for each 12th grader;
Complete all School Report and Mid-Year Report forms requested by colleges, including evaluations of students;
Assist in supporting office projects and initiatives, including fall and winter family weekend programs; the College Counseling Office’s Think Tank, and the spring College Fair;
Assist in planning and executing the Clambake Institute, a summer professional conference for college admissions officers and college counselors from across the country hosted by St. George’s;
Remain current with trends in college admission, higher education, and national testing;
Participate in professional organizations such as the College Board, the National Association of College Admission Counselors, the New England Association of College Admission Counselors, and Association of College Counselors of Independent Schools;
Aid in disseminating information about standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, and TOEFL and help to administer exams on campus as needed;
Teach one class or the equivalent; coach one season or the equivalent; assist in the evening supervision of campus;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of College Counseling;
Support the School and its leadership.
Knowledgeable of colleges, admission trends and policies, and the financial aid process.

A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
