University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ('UEC') supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.
Position Summary
Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 9/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $4,841.00-$5,000.00 per month.
Location: CSUSB Campus.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week. Typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the ASUA Director, the Academic Career Advisor will work independently to: Academic Advising and Career Coaching:
Build relationships with students and provides 1:1 and group guidance to undergraduate students
Works directly with students daily, to provide writing support to students, attending to the operational needs of the center, and provide direct services to students
Under the supervision of the director, works with student assistants and supports their work as peer educators with students seeking services.
Under direct supervision and guidance of the director, participates in targeted academic support campaigns and outreach to provide academic writing support Introduce and refer students to campus resources, when appropriate.
Campus Partnerships and Career Events:
Participate in campus events such as orientation resource fairs, convocation, weeks of welcome, choose CSUSB, and others as they arise to promote the services offered by the center
Supports the director to delivers workshop, group events, and presentations to students.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited university in Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience:
Must have 1 year of experience in a professional field working with people.
Other:
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of the college programs to which assigned.
Rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions, and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas.
Ability to interpret, apply, and explain program rules and regulations.
Take initiative and exercise resourcefulness in advising practice.
Ability to translate student development, leadership theory, and research into practice.
Experience fostering and maintaining effective relationships and ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines and coordinate the efforts of multiple areas is essential.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and in large groups.
Public speaking and ability to reason logically analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data.
Remains current regarding trends and developments in higher education, student development theory, high-impact practices related to advising, transition and student success. Will remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, the development of professional contacts with colleagues, attendance at professional development courses/conferences, and trainings, as directed, by the Director.
Works both independently and collaboratively to plan events, conduct presentations, host workshops, participate in orientation and more.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a peer mentor or advisor in academic affairs.
Master's degree from an accredited university in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.
