Job Description
This position provides course and program advisement to students in the Master of Business Administration Program. Oversee ongoing program admissions activities and provide functional leadership to areas of the Master of Business Administration Program including program satisfaction, student engagement, and continuous improvement of support and services for students
Provide holistic academic advising and success coaching for students throughout their MBA Program
Serve as the advisor of record for students in the Master of Business Administration program.Â
Introduce and orient students to their academic requirements, academic planning tools and campus resources.Â
Develop program plans and resources for student progression through the program.Â
Review and recommend courses of action for changes in program concentrations, course substitutions, and other program appeals.Â
Assist students in course and program concentration selection and addition of business graduate certificates.Â
Assist students with navigating University procedures and processes as needed.Â
Establish trust with students, develop rapport and a working relationship that includes meeting as required and tracking of student progress.Â
Provide timely intervention when students are identified as needing support. Â
Assess student needs and provide appropriate academic and personal coaching, and, when necessary, connect students to appropriate campus and/or community resources.Â
Develop success plans with students who are on academic warning or probation, monitoring goal progress.Â
Conduct admissions operations for MBA program students
Approve students for admission to MBA program.Â
Serve as primary liaison with Graduate Studies Admissions  Â
Respond to admissions queries.Â
Plan and conduct information sessions.Â
Approve welcome emails and help students complete onboarding activities for their program start.Â
Enhance student success through communication, policy guidance, and faculty outreach
Develop and send regular program-level communication to MBA studentsÂ
Uphold the integrity of academic and curricular policies established by the University and the School.
Exercise informed judgment to apply exceptions when warranted to ensure uniform academic policy practices and standards and timely degree progress for students.â¯Â Â
Communicate, as needed, with faculty delivering MBA courses, taking a collaborative approach to student support, staying up-to-date on academic program requirements and opportunities and sharing pertinent updates on behalf of Advising and Student Success.Â
Serve as a participating member of the Master of Business Administration Program Team
Represent HBS at campus events and meetings.Â
Serve as a liaison in one or more of the following or similar capacities, Graduate Studies, International Studies, Records and Registration, Office of Financial Aid, and external partners who support the MBA program. Â
Assist with the assessment of MBA programs and services to ensure excellence.Â
Engage in regular professional development.Â

Minimum Qualifications
Masterâ™s Degree and1 year of higher education experience or a Bachelorâ™s Degree and 2 years of professional higher education experience. Â
Familiarity with higher education system and current trends in student success, advising,coaching, and/or orientation.Â
Experience with interpreting student dataand ability to navigate software programs and other forms of technology.Â
Effective verbal and written communication skills.Â
Experience and competency working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.Â
Preferred QualificationÂ
Experience working with graduate and non-traditional students in an advising, coaching, admissions, financial aid, records & registration, or related role in a higher education environment.Â
Experience working with business students sufficient to advise regarding degree programs and future careers.Â
Knowledge of student development theory, academic advising, coaching, or orientation.Â
Strong organizational and time management skills.Â
Ability to use and organize data in Power BI and Microsoft Excel or similar programs.Â
Demonstrated experience and knowledge using and/or interpreting student information systems, degree audits, student success management platforms (EABâ™s Navigate, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite and shared cloud spaces (OneDrive or Google Drive).Â
Ability to work with underrepresented students and help them overcome barriers for success. Â

With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995. The law merged the state's community colleges, technical colleges and state universities into one system. The system is separate from the University of Minnesota.
