Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Associate Director for Employer and Alumni Engagement position. The Associate Director for Employer and Alumni Engagement is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $84,000 per year - commensurate with experience. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
The Associate Director for Employer and Alumni Engagement is responsible for employer development and alumni engagement, with a focus on cultivating new relationships and connections with organizations, alumni, parents, and other friends of the college to increase and expand the number of quality internship, job, and career development opportunities for Amherst students. The Associate Director will be committed to growing the Loeb Center's network of employers and will serve as the Loeb Center's subject matter expert on local, regional, and national hiring practices, employment trends, and other labor-related matters.
In addition, this position provides leadership, management, and strategic coordination for Loeb Center and Advancement cross-divisional opportunities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Employer Development
Cultivate new relationships and connections with organizations, alumni, parents, and other friends of the college to increase and expand the number of quality internship and job opportunities for Amherst students
Manage employer development planning and execution of new recruitment strategies
Identify and cultivate relationships with employers who foster a diverse and inclusive workplace
Work collaboratively with on-campus partners including faculty members and other administrators to identify opportunities to engage employers and alumni
Develop ongoing marketing strategies and materials to bring greater visibility of the college to employers and industries
Conduct on-site visits with current and prospective employer contacts and College alumni to increase engagement with recruiting opportunities (as needed)
Alumni and Parent Engagement
Recruit and build relationships with alumni and parent volunteers to facilitate career development opportunities for students and recent graduates
Manage recruitment initiatives that integrate employer relations and the alumni network
Project manage the Alumni-in-Residence Program
Provide strategic coordination for Loeb Center/Advancement cross-divisional opportunities
Serve as project lead on emergent alumni/student initiatives as needed
Identify ways to maximize the efforts of alumni to help students and recent graduates navigate the world of work
Strategic Planning and Management
Research and stay informed on local, regional, and national hiring practices, employment trends, and other labor-related issues
Synthesizes feedback from advisors, the early engagement team, career communities, and other sources of expertise to identify new partners and ensure opportunities are available across industry areas and disciplines
Track, analyze, and report out on employers to evaluate recruiting portfolio
Maintains current and timely outreach records and communicates regularly with team members
Maintain a customer relationship management (CRM) for contact management, and develop standards and processes to support and facilitate integration with career community programs
Provide direct supervision of part-time student intern(s), as needed
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
5 years related experience in higher education, business, or nonprofit setting
Knowledge of current employment trends, branding strategies, and targeted recruitment principles, procedures, and resources
Relevant experience with early career recruiting
Solid relationship-building skills, able to interface with executive-level leaders within a company, alumni, donors, volunteers, faculty, and administrators
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, both written and oral, as well as high-level of nimbleness and maturity in social and professional settings
Excellent time-management and organizational skills, including the flexibility to balance multiple priorities with reliable attention to detail
Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
Able to work evenings, weekends, etc., as needed for events and programs
Must be willing to travel to meet with employers and alumni as needed
Preferred
Experience in corporate/campus recruiting, employer relations, or related donor/volunteer relations field
