The Assistant Dean will report to the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) Senior Associate Dean and play a critical oversight role in managing the following Liberal Arts Applied Programs:
Pre-law Center
Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies (GWSS) Program
Inter-disciplinary Studies (INTS) Program
Bachelor of Arts and Applied Science (BAAS) Program
The Assistant Dean will develop and implement strategies and plans to educate, retain, and grow students in these applied program areas. Oversees curriculum and student development, as well as faculty development within the applied program areas. This position also serves as the primary liaison with departments across UTA to collaborate on course offerings and community partnerships that benefit these programs.
Essential Duties:
Coordinate daily operations across the Centers and Programs under the umbrella of the LAAP Center.
Lead and align operational LAAP area strategies and resources with Division and University priorities.
Coordinate scheduling of courses across departments, recruit faculty, oversee the processing of curriculum changes.
Manage budgets and resources across all areas.
Recommend and monitor the usage of budget, personnel, and facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and optimal service delivery to students.
Supervise LAAP staff to include an Academic Advisor II and Administrative Assistant II (AAII).
Support faculty and students in travel for events and competitions associated with the Center and Program Activities.
Convene and support faculty advisory groups in each area.
With the assistance and support of the Administrative Assistant II, coordinate events across calendars for all supported areas.
Support faculty in planning and implementing events.
Support the Dean and Faculty in fundraising efforts.
Collaborate with University partners to identify and cultivate external funding opportunities to support multi-disciplinary programs and initiatives.
Partner with the Dean's Office and Department in recruitment and retention efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in field related to multi-disciplinary programming areas and/or the equivalent experience.
Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated supervision and management of personnel, departments, and budgets.
Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in field related to multi-disciplinary programming areas or Administration of Higher Education.
Seven (7) years supervisory experience.
Demonstrated ability to design, analyze, implement, and manage projects, programs, and procedures.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience interacting with donors.
Experience in grants-management.
Experience with Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
